Life Update: New Year’s, Work, Wedding, and GPS
Jan 7, 2009 Holidays, The Engagment, The Wedding, Work

Well, Happy Bleated New Year to my readers, lurkers, and anyone who has just happened to find this post. As usual over New Year’s (well January 3 & 4 as New Years was during the week this year) Nicole and I went up to my grandparent’s in Door County, Wisconsin for our Extended Family Christmas. We had a good time catching up with everyone and even managed to get $$ and gift cards like we had requested.
Work has been going well, everyone I work with is really nice and I am fitting in really well. It is a bit different from my previous job as this job is 100% phone support as opposed to before where I did phone as well as deskside support. I’ve even managed to make a few friends, most of who are engaged or already married, and as soon as things settle down from the Holidays I’m gonna see if I can organize a small shindig.
The wedding planning is going well, if slow, Nicole and I have all the ‘big’ things done: the photographer, cake, dj, reception hall, and church are all done. Nicole has a list of what still needs to be done and apparently it is longer than I think it is (which wouldn’t suprise me). Still, we have 8 months and I am pleased with the progress we have made so far.
For Christmas Nicole and I recieved over $100 in Best Buy gift cards. For a while now we have been wanting to get a

GPS to help us get around Madison. This last Sunday we went to Best Buy to pick one up. Looking through the GPS units they had we noticed they had a Garmin nűvi 205 for $135, it was on sale. We played with the display unit for a while and decided to buy it. It took me about 10 minutes to open it as it was in that stupid clamshell packaging, I used a combination of my keys and tearing at the package to get it open having forgotten my knife at home. Being the geek that I am I wanted to name my GPS…and being a good fiancee I offered to let my fiancee name the GPS. She settled on the name Zoë. After Zoë got us home safely and accurately I hopped online to see if we chose a good GPS (in hindsight I probably should have done this first) and was pleasntly suprised to find that the reviews of my GPS were very positive. If you want a good breakdown of the Garmin Nuvi 205 check out the GPS Magazine review.
