What do you do when your spouse is gone?

This weekend Nicole went on her annual shopping trip to Door County with her sister and her grandma. I believe that I have mentioned it a few times before and I miss her. Now we are not even married yet so I supposed I can’t call Nicole my spouse yet but for the sake of the conversation let’s pretend.

To give you some perspective Nicole and I don’t get to see each other during the week very much. We are both busy with work and I have school on top of that so we generally spend weekends togeather either at her house or mine. Now you could argue that it’s only a weekend, suck it up, so on and so forth, and I am, but that doesn’t mean I miss her any less. The way I figure it if you have a good solid loving relationship even if one of you goes to the grocery store without the other there should be some missing involved.

Keep in mind I do realize that even when married you are still your own person and can do your own things but when you spend so much time with someone there is something missing when they are gone. I find that this weekend I kept busy by hanging out with a friend I have not spent time with recently, doing some homework, gaming, and writing this blog post. So, my question for you is: What do you do when your spouse is gone?

The main thing that changes when my wife is gone is my sleeping schedule. I stay up late when she is gone which means I sometimes even take a 7-8pm nap to do it. I watch violent war movies or some other such non-chick flick movie. It’s all good and fun…for about a day, and then I stay up late, watching movies or editing videos and wish she was back home.

When my husband isn’t around, I ended up going to the bookshops and then drinking coffee while reading the newly purchased book. Or I would hang out with my friend and both of us have some lunch and watch some movie. But while at home, I would be just checking stuff online and read more books and wishing he was home because he sometimes is away for a week or two.
