This Week in Wedding Planning: A Short Break

This week Nicole and I are rather busy with non-wedding this and that. We really have nothing planned on the wedding front for this week and this upcoming weekend Nicole is going up to Door County for her annual shooping trip with her grandma and sister. I have a few things that urgently need doing in relation to school so there will be no actual wedding plans related posts this week.

I do still intend to post though and I will at least twice more this week on something related to relationships/engagment/wedding thoughts. If anyone wants to here from me on something specific please let me know.

This Week in Wedding Planning: Reception Site Fail

This morning Nicole had a 10 AM appointment at a location we are considering using for a reception location. She called me at about 10:05 and said that she had to reschedule the appoitment for tomorrow. As she drove by she noticed a cop car so she went around the block and then stopped into the parking lot. A waitress came out and said that it would really be best to come back later. Nicole mentioned she had an appointment but the waitress insisted that it would really be best to come back tomorrow.

After about 5 minutes Nicole was told that the place had been robbed last night! Apparently all the money had been stolen in addition to every flat panel t.v. in the place!

So, no actual update today, just an interesting story.

This Week in Wedding Planning: Pictures

Well, sorry about the lack of update on Saturday, Nicole and I had such a busy afternoon that we ended up taking a nap…which left no time for a blog post.

On Saturday our afternoon flower appointment was at 1:30. I drive and Nicole navigated…we got there a bit early and were pleased to find that we could even start our appointment early. I honestly don’t know much about flowers but I do know a couple things.

1) Our color is not sage green anymore, it’s red.
2) This quote was considerably cheeper than the last, that made me happy.

We wil probably try a couple other flower places but we got a good feeling (and price) from this one so it will probably be what we go with.

Out photography appointment was at 3 in the afternoon. This was our first photography appointment and I believe we got a good quote for the following:

1) The photographer is the same guy we had our appointment with.
2) He uses all film and keeps the negatives ‘forever’ so if we want more we can always get them from him.
3) He starts an hour and a half before the wedding allowing for pictures of both halves of the wedding party to get ready.
4) There is no limit to the number of pictures that are taken, also he will take pictures of anything we request, no restictions.

So, that was last week and for this weekend we have another Saturday appointment for photos and a possible appointment with a DJ on Saturday as well. Keep an eye out and I will try to think of a few things to post throughout the week.

This Week in Wedding Planning: The Dress

So, this afternoon Nicole went wedding dress shopping at David’s Bridal on the west side of Madison. I didn’t go as I won’t see her in her dress until she walks down the isle but we did just talk a bit about it over the phone. Her appointment was at 2:30 and she went with her grandmother and sister, apparently is was lots of work because she sounded really tired when we talked. She said she tried on about 8 dresses and she actually did decide on the dress, if I remember right she chose dress #4, at the price tag of about $650 or so. Nicole also picked out a veil and as she put it “the thing that makes my dress go ‘woosh!’” which I think means make is swoosh out at the bottom, someone wanna translate girl-speak for me?

Anyway, that is all I have for tonight, pretty good considering I wasn’t even there. We have a flower appointment on Saturday at 1:30 and a photography appointment afterward at 3:30. My weekend is looking pretty busy though so I don’t think I will have an update on that until Monday.

So, have a good weekend, have some fun, and be sure to check back Monday evening for another update.

This Week in Wedding Planning: The Dress, Pictures, and Flowers

This is my attempt to get some sort of set posting schedule going on this blog. Every Monday I will post on what Nicole and I plan on getting done (or at least started) in relation to wedding planning. Then throughout the week on the day(s) we did something wedding related I will post an update sharing how things went, if we made a decision, etc.

This week we will (hopefully) focus on Nicole’s dress, check out 1 or 2 photography places, and sit down with a couple flower shops to discuss flowers. Nicole has her dress appointment scheduled for Thursday afternoon on the west side of Madison and she is taking her sister (Maid-of-Honor) and grandmother. I know nothing more than that as I plan on not seeing her in her dress until the wedding day.

The pictures and flowers meetings will be on Saturday afternoon. We are not sure what we really want for flowers at all so that might take quite a while just because we have no real ideas to start with (well, except for White Roses, Nicole likes those).

Hopefully we can make some progress this week as it is now less than a year until the wedding (yeah, I know its only by about a week but still, less than a year).

As an aside, Nicole and I heard a rumor that we may be unable to kiss at the end of the service in her church. I am slightly put out about this as I kinda want to and I don’t see why it would be an issue as long as we don’t have a big makeout session in front of our friends and family. What are your thoughts on this?

Boston Pictures

Alright, well I admit to being really slow on this but I finally have uploaded all the pictures from my trip to Boston. Check them out below and let me know what you think.

9/11

I remember where I was and I remember what I was doing, but all of that seems rather small compared to the innocent men and women who were murdered on that day.

Never Forget

Nicole’s Birthday

Ok, well I am a little late on this. I have been so busy with work and school and wedding planning that other than actually celebrating Nicole’s Birthday I did not even think of noting it here. Anyway, Nicole’s birthday was August 30th and she is now 22. Feel free to leave a Happy Birthday comment below.

As an aside all wedding planning is going well, but slow, we are doing lots of general research before we make too many decisions. I promise to update as actual decisions are being made.
